QT Fashion Week- Day 2 Nomiki Glynatsis

As well as having the media pass I also decided to help out at QT Fashion Week as a volunteer for days two and three. I wanted to get as much experience from the event as I could, especially with it being my first fashion week. I wasn't exactly sure what I would be doing except for the title that said 'front of house'. Basically it was pretty stress free work, filling goody bags for a future event and then tidying up and moving a few things around at the end of the night. We were then lucky enough to attend the event, so I got the best of both worlds really!

Nomiki Glynatsis was the designer for Wednesday. Her couture jewellery collection named 'a touch of romance' was based on 'inspiration from a holiday in Barcelona'. The jewellery was amazing and I can totally see how the rich colours from the Swarovski Crystals fit in with the Spanish style. Interestingly, I found out in 2011 she was selected to be part of the gift bag for the Grammy Awards, and gave out 150 handmade pieces from her collection to nominees which I think is pretty cool! This was very different to any of the other days as it was an installation show. This meant that rather than a runway, we were all in a smaller room where the models were on display for the duration of the event. The way the room was styled was definitely romantic, soft lighting, candles, flowers on every table and a Spanish band playing in the background. It was great to stroll around looking in detail at every piece and also see the jewellery on the models in their amazing dresses that were standing on a cube modelling the jewellery (like they need to be even taller!).

I didn't take any photos from the actual event unfortunately but I managed to get one backstage of them posing and I found a few professional ones online.

A perk of volunterring, taking home the unwanted flowers from the event :)
