My Primark wishlist this week

Primark is one of my favourite stores! I can always go in there and find something to buy. Its great that they have so many sections so if you are looking for something particular such as a blouse or a basic red tshirt you are guaranteed to find it! Although the prices have definitely increased over the years and now sometimes i find myself saying i can pay a bit more and get a similar item in say New Look, why would i as the quality has improved so is now on par with them. Its great though, where else can you buy a whole outfit for under £40 maybe even £30 if you find some bargains! Also jewellery for £1/2, you cannot go wrong and do not feel bad if you only wear it once or twice. Especially in these recession hit times where you need your fashion fix but cannot afford to pay £40 for a new dress in Miss Selfridge, you can spend the same in Primark and come out with a bag full of goodies instead!

Its a shame Primark still do not offer online shopping (well it isn't for our bank balance!) so its been a bit harder for me to find my favourite Primark pieces. I trawled through different sites to gain an idea of what is available at the moment and come up with a few gorgeous summer pieces that are a must have!

1. Ring, £3
I love the colours of this ring, it is perfect for summer.
2. Dress, £10
A perfect little summer dress which is easy to wear day or night. It can be dressed down with a denim jacket and sandals or dressed up with some wedges, chunky bracelets and big earrings for the evening.

3. Maxi dress, £10
You cannot go wrong with a maxi dress and this one is perfect for people who are not a fan of bright colours but want to still dress nice and summery during the warmer months. The Aztec print is great and offers a statement piece as opposed to a plain simple maxi. A light brown floppy felt hat would look amazing with this. It would tie in really nicely with the simple brown belt that is included to offer a slight shaping to the dress to show off your curves. As there is a print you cannot go overboard on accessories so along with the hat, a simple wooden bracelet would be enough for a real head turner look!

4. Blouse, £10
In case dresses are not your thing but you still want to look smart during summer, this sleeveless blouse is a winner. The blue and green colours are great for the ones who object to wearing girly colours but still want a summery look. Team it with denim shorts for a more casual outfit or tuck it in to the right style of skirt for smarter look.

5. Necklace, £4
A great statement necklace that will go with so many things. It is perfect to throw on over a plain top to instantly add some glam and being gold rather than a bright colour will go with so many colours.

6. Bag, £9
This bag really does not look like its from Primark. It looks expensive and sophisticated. Its a great size to fit all your bits and pieces in for college or Uni and the double strap will come in so useful depending on how you want to hold the bag that day.

7. Cropped top, £4
What an absolute bargain! I cannot believe this top is only £4, that's what I'm talking about Primark, where else could you pay so little for such an on trend top! This is perfect for if you want to experiment wearing this new style of top but you are not 100% sure its for you and don't want to spend too much. I love the lace material, it makes it that bit more expensive looking and takes it from a casual top to one that can be worn anytime. For the ones who do not want to flash to much belly, team it with a high waisted skirt/shorts, which is what i would personally prefer. If you are more confident and are lucky enough to have a toned tum, there are many ways to wear this from leather/ wet look black leggings to skinny jeans. Personally i feel if you were to show your stomach i would keep the bottom half covered as the outfit could come across a bit cheap and over-exposed otherwise.

8. Playsuit, £10
I love playsuits, i bought one from Primark two years ago in a similar style and i still loving wearing it. Its so versatile as i can dress it up with heels for a night out, wear with tights and boots in winter or bare legs and sandals in summer! The colour combination is great as it lets you alternate colour accessories to show off so many different looks and is not too bright letting you where this from spring time through to summer.

So what are your thoughts on Primark, do you love it or hate it? Anything on my wishlist that you would buy?

My Topshop wishlist this week

How could i create a wishlist without including Topshop!? Well i have to admit that, unlike most girls my age, i am slightly controversial and I am not a huge fan of the store. Don't get me wrong, i do like to have the odd browse and rummage during the sales but i usually find myself walking out empty handed. I feel this is a mixture of my local stores being quite small thus having a limited range so i find it hard to find the gems that others seem to encounter. Also the prices are usually too high and on some occasions i can find a similar item elsewhere and for less. Maybe being at University for the last three years where £40 a week was better spent on a night out, food and a trip to Primark, rather than the same for one top in Topshop gave me a better perspective of value for money...? Possibly in the future when i have a full time job and more disposable income i may change my mind. However, browsing their website i did come across quite a few gorgeous pieces that i thought i would share with you!

1. Denim Waistcoat, £35.
I love these, they are so easy to wear, you can throw them on with any summer dress to dress it down and give it that festival carefree look.

2. Blouse, £34.
This blouse is so pretty, the flower detailing offers a more expensive look to other blouses i have seen and would look great with white jeans or even tucked into blue denim shorts for a more casual look.

3. Leggings, £25.
These are for the more daring of people, although with a simple white top, it will give a laid back daytime look with a burst of colour that is perfect for summer.

4. Skirt, £22.
This skirt is a good price and is a great statement piece. You can glam it up with heels and a crop top or even dress it down for a cool street look with a baggy top tucked in with flats/converse.

5. Denim crop top, £25.
A simple on trend top that can be worn with many items. A must have with this top though is some classic RayBan's and a messy bun if you have long hair.

6. Dress, £59.
I am in love with this dress, it is soo me! The colour and contrast of materials is gorgeous and its a perfect summer going out dress. It is best teamed with some light brown chunky wedges so ensure its summer glam rather than too dressy if you know what i mean :)

7. Bag, £75
I love simple, timeless bags and this definitely fits that criteria! I know it is on the pricey side but i feel bags are the exception and are something you use everyday so it is worth paying a bit more for it. It is also great that it has 2 straps so you can wear it how you like.

8. Black top, £25.
This is a great alternative to the usual crop tops that are currently around. It is perfect if you like the cropped style but do not want to flash to much flesh. The tassels also give it a great hippy vibe, making it perfect festival wear with some denim shorts, wellies and a floppy hat!

What are your thoughts on my picks, any you would buy? And what about your thoughts on Topshop, am i the only one who is not obsessed or are there some like minded people out there?

A day in the life of me, living on the Gold Coast :)

So as requested here's a day in the life of me. It is not my usual type of post but how can i ignore a request for this when i am currently living in such an amazing place, the Gold Coast! It's not overly exciting but i hope you all enjoy :)

9.30. Wake up. I am lucky that i only work part time and i usually work evenings as I am a waitress. Therefore, a lie in it is for me nearly every morning, which is great as i am not an early bird!

10.30. After grabbing breakfast and chilling on my laptop for a bit, if the weather is nice i will usually go to the pool for a bit. I love doing this and i know it is something that i will never get to do again as part of my everyday life so i have to make the most of it while I'm here. Even after nearly 6 months the novelty has not worn off of being able to do this and it still feels like i am on holiday!

Here's my pool area, its so nice and relaxing, especially as its normally just me or a couple of others round the pool.

12.30. Lunch. Even though it is coming into Autumn now in Australia, Queensland is still mega hot so i find a couple of hours enough for sunbathing. Plus i don't want to start going all leathery at 22 from too much sun exposure, although i must say i do love having a tan!

1.00. I am fortunate enough to have one of the largest shopping centres on the Gold Coast within a 15 minute walk away so i often find myself popping up there to top up the food shop, have a nosey in some stores and treat myself to a McDonald's 30c (20p, yes only 20p) ice cream! Coming from the UK where we have a great selection of supermarkets all competing against each other for the cheapest prices to Oz where they only have two main supermarkets which seem to not have the same focus on cheap prices came as a shock. Everything here seems to be dearer (eg £1.30 for a chocolate bar) however, wages are also a lot higher so it evens out once you start working over here.

4.00. So once i am back from the shops, i usually find myself back on the Internet for a good couple of hours, browsing twitter and facebook and online window shopping for my blog.

7.00. Being in a new country we try to make the most of it so we usually go out somewhere once or twice a week. On a Monday they show a recent film for free in a theatre within this huge casino that is up the road from us, so we usually go there. Another night we find ourselves trying out a new restaurant as there as so many to try. Our favourite so far was a small all you can eat Brazilian churrascaria in Surfers Paradise. The meat was amazing, so tender and juicy, it was literally the best meat we had ever tasted.

Jupiters Casino, where we go for the free film

If we weren't going out in the evening we would go out during the day to places like the local wildlife sanctuary or one the theme parks that we have an unlimited pass to. As the Gold Coast is such a holiday destination there are so many attractions to visit and places to see all within an hour away which means we can always find something to do.

10.00. Back home after a great dinner and drinks we usually catch up on some TV for an hour or two. Currently we are really into The Walking Dead and Homeland or if i am by myself Greys Anatomy or 2 Broke Girls for some light entertainment.

12.00 Bed time to do it all again tomorrow :)

My New Look wishlist this week

Along with Miss Selfridge, New Look is one of my favourite stores. It is on trend and mega affordable, and the quality is not bad either. They have such a large collection on their website i didn't get very far before already having quite a lot on my wish list, so these items are just from their 'new in' section.

These earrings are gorgeous, they are so girly and pretty and being studs it will make them easy to wear with many outfits.

I love blouses, they are easy to wear but instantly make you look smart and are great to wear at work or a day trip shopping.

I have a real thing for collars at the moment and this one is lovely, the beading gives it that little extra so that it can be dressed up at night for a little quirky look. Recently i have seen a lot of these collars with jumpers to create a real preppy look and i think its a fantastic look that is so me. I just hope this look is still in fashion on my return to the UK as it is currently way to hot here in Oz to be sporting this look!

I desperately need a new purse and this one is ideal, its cute and feminine and just the right size to fit everything in.

This style of dress is gorgeous and so glamorous. I have a couple of dresses in this style and i love wearing them as i instantly feel supper feminine and elegant, and the colour of this dress is such a head turner, making it perfect for summer!

The little white top is simple but really cute and would look great with a pair of denim shorts and a brown floppy hat for a casual summer look.

Brown wedges are such a staple for a summer heel, they will go with everything and being a wedge they are not too dressy for a perfect summer evening look.

Another collar, what can i say..?? I am a little bit obsessed at the moment.

And lastly we have an aztec print midi dress. I love this length, its sophisticated and different from the usual really short dresses you see on a night out. Also the plain versions look great dressed down with pumps/ little boots and a biker jacket for a cool day time look.

1. Earrings, £4
2. Blouse, £17
3. Collar, £6
4. Purse, £13
5. Dress, £27
6. Top, £13
7. Wedges, £30
8. Collar, £9
9. Dress, £15

My Miss Selfridge wish list this week...

I love Miss Selfridge, it has a good mixture of both really girly items with some cool rock chic looks, which kinda sums up my dress sense. I love girly dresses and looking pretty but then i am just as happy wearing military boots, leggings and a leather jacket. I didn't realise until i put the image together that there is a colour theme on my wish list, maybe i did it subconsciously or maybe i am more drawn to the pretty paler colours...?

These are all great day time pieces although, most could be dressed up for a smart casual event. The two on the far left would be perfect for festivals as they have that slight hippy vibe going on and even number 3 could be with the right accessories like a brown trilby, chunky brown bangles and some wellies. I love the jumper, the lace panelling instantly glams up an otherwise normal jumper and the dusty pink colour would go perfect with some black skinny jeans.

1. Blue embroidered shorts, £32
2.  Dusty pink jumper, £37
3.  Denim playsuit, £40
4. Embroidered cream top, £45
5. Dusty pink bag, £25
6. Pale blue top, £35

Is the mid heel the next step forward...?

So i was browsing Elle the other day and i came across this article on the mid heel being the latest trend in footwear. I have to say i really am not keen, yes they may be more comfy than the stilettos most girls wear but for me one of the points of heels is for the glamour aspect (and worry about the pain later) and you just don't get that with these. Some remind me of back in the day when i was allowed my first pair of heels when i was like 12, where they were only an inch or two high but i felt so grown up. Either that or the other end of the spectrum where you get past the age where high heels are seen as sexy and glamorous and more 'mutton dressed as lamb'. This is where you have to scale down the height of the heel to be seen as more sophisticated which is where the mid heel would come in useful.

Overall i do not think anything could sway me into swapping my skyscraper's for the sensible mid heel, even though even as i type i am nursing blisters from an uncomfy pair from Saturday night...

What are your thoughts, can you see these catching on or are they a fashion no no??

Love at first sight

The focus of this post is around the amazing leopard print boots that i bought the other day. As i am currently in Australia, i had no intention of buying boots as its over 25 degrees every day. However, while browsing Kmart (i love their shoes and they are such a bargain (more on that in another post!)) i came across these. As i previously mentioned i have barely any room in my case for new stuff so when i saw these i got really excited but then reality set in, do i really need these and where will they go? I admired them for a few minutes before putting my sensible head on and walked away. Although, I could not get the boots out of my head and i was getting excited on possible outfits i could wear them with. So out i went the following day to buy them and i am so glad i did, best of all they were only $10, roughly £7, absolute bargain and giving Primark a good run for their money.

Below are a couple of casual outfits i could wear them with. They would also work just as well with some leopard print pumps like the ones i displayed a couple of posts ago. The first look is a great laid back day time look that you could wear shopping or going to college/ Uni. The second is a lot more rock chic with the leather jacket, sunglasses and the trilby, i love this outfit and i think it could work really well as a stand out look.

2. Denim shirt with studded peal collar, Miss Selfridge, £36
3. Tan leather bag, Topshop, £40

5. Grey t-shirt, Miss Selfridge, £26
6. Black leather biker jacket, Miss Selfridge, £52

Creating a dent in your bank balance...

So as i am on the topic of sales, i thought i would share a few more bargains with you.

Miss Selfridge bow heels £50- £25.

These are gorgeous, so girly with the cute bow but with the mega high heel and platform insert it makes them sophisticated and sexy! I bought a similar pair from Miss Selfridge over 3 years ago in the sale, which tied at the front to create a bow, and i can safely say they are the most comfy heels i have ever owned, plus i always get compliments regarding them. And as i have said before, every girl should own a pair of black heels!

Topshop black biker jacket. £65- £30.

I love this style of biker jacket and it has become a staple in so many girls wardrobes. They are so versatille as they can be dressed down to create a carefree look or dressed up with a pretty dress to give a slight rock chic/ i just threw this on vibe. This one from Topshop is such a bargain, i cant believe they have reduced it by so much, i bet it will see out straight away!

Hello New Look Sale

I do love New Look. It is affordable fashion that i have grown up with since the age of 10, starting with their 'generation 915' range and gradually moving to their main fashion line. Sometimes i do feel i am slightly growing out of their brand, either i am swaying more towards more mature wear or they are targeting a slightly younger market. I'm not sure although, i do know i can rely on them for a few bargains. Here are some i picked out yesterday from their mid season sale that has just started....

A gorgeous colour, i love maxi skirts they always look glamorous and are so  easy to wear. The brown belt which comes with the skirt works nicely, and such a bargain full price at only £15 but has been reduced to only £6!

I love the studded collar, it makes the shirt more versatille as it can now be worn in the evening or as a dressy day outfit. £23 reduced to £10

A great top to wear during the day to throw on with jeans but still look like you have made an effort. £15 reduced to £7

A classic pair of black stillettos that every girl should have. These have a built in wedge at the front so they will not feel as high which is a bonus. £25 reduced to £13.

Another footwear staple, brown calf length boots which are perfect for the winter. A slight heel which will make you walk more gracefully but not enough to make your feet hurt. Will look great over jeans. £40 reduced to £20

I love a skater dress, so flattering and comfy.  £25 reduced to £12.

A lovely colour, great if you want to get away from the typical black, brown and grey coats but do not want to be too daring. £50 reduced to £25

This is such a cute dress, i love the pattern and the little collar. It would be great for the office or a day out shopping. £23 reduced to £9.

A perfect winter jumper which would look great teamed with black jeans. £20 reduced to £10

I love the print of this dress, its so classic and pretty. Although it is not suitable for this time of year, it would be perfect for a summer wedding, christening or nice meal out. £25 reduced to £12.

Again, another perfect winter jumper. I love the mink colour, it gives a softer look and wearing with black jeans would be a great contrast. £25 reduced to £13.

Personally i have not worn one of these tops myself, although i have seen them on and with the right figure (im sorry to say not all shapes can pull this off) they look amazing. Team it with a pencil skirt so you are showing some stomach and only calfs for a classy look (a short skirt would be showing off way too much) looks great. This also comes in three other colours so you can play around to find the one that suits your skin and hair colour.  A complete bargain at £4 reduced from £12.

A pair of leopard print pumps are a must for any wardrobe, they look great with jeans or black leggings. £12 reduced to £6.

Bye bye fashion week

I have finally finished my marathon blogging on all four fashion weeks and now i am moving to the other end of the spectrum, high street fashion. Being on the other side of the world for 5 months now i feel slightly out of touch with whats on the UK high street, so i do occasionally anticipate in some virtual window shopping so to speak. This way i can keep up with what is currently in the stores although, it does pain me when i see items i really want knowing that i cannot buy them.

Here in Australia i do not feel the same sense of excitement and creativity that i get at home. There does not seem to be the same calibre of shops here, and they seem to blend into one (i could not tell you one from the other really). However, this could be that they are all new to me and i have not grown up with them and seen them evolve like i have with the likes of Primark and New Look which i feel i have a history with. Also knowing i was quite a few kilos over on my luggage flying out and having no space to put new items on my return to the UK has deterred me from having a proper look in some of the stores in case i do get carried away and buy too much!

So now i have decided to share what catches my eye and what i want to buy with you on here. By doing this it is like virtual shopping, i can shop, pick out items and share my thoughts on them, but without actually buying them, hence kinda getting my shopping fix :)

Paris Fashion Week- Zuhair Murad

Some of the dresses in this collection were so glamourous and i fell in love with them straight away. They were simple with black and white or navy colours but the cut and shape of the dress instantly evolved it into a statement piece, perfect for the catwalk!
